Game example: Soccer
Rules: Two teams with each 11 players, one of which is a goalkeeper. Each team has a goal. Players can kick the ball but not touch it with their hands (goalkeepers can touch it with their hands). If the ball leaves the playing field, the ball is given to the opposite team of the team that last touched it. Putting a ball in the opponent's goal scores a point.
Outcome: The goals scored within the time allotted to a game.
Value: The team with most points wins.
Effort: Moving about, strategies, tactics, general skill in handling of the ball, communication.
Attachment: Team wins; the individual player can be informally judged on the basis of his/her achievements in the game.
Negotiable consequences: Social consequences in doing well for the team vs. doing badly. Injuries non-negotiable; many professional leagues; betting is common.
