Just an hour or two left of the Indie Game Jam.
Here’s the title screen of my game, Emotional:
As you may notice, the 3d models are from The Sims – Maxis generously donated the complete library to the game jam.
The games will eventually be available on Sourceforge.
Strongly looking forward to
stealinglooking at this stuff. One of the games I’m working on is very person interacty, and I wonder if what I came up with mirrors any of the other ideas over there. This always seems to happen, and is always bitter sweet when it does. For us wanna-be Game Designers that consume your blog like the mental-crack it is… how available are some of the tools you use going to be? I’ve been looking for a good “open-source-ish” people animation engine for a while, and had thought I might just have to build my own. When you post this to SourceForge, will the Maxis engine also be included? Will you also post some of your thoughts/ideas/decision processes for why you designed the way that you did?
Projects like this are amazing learning oppertunities for us budding designers. Keep up the good work!
I am not sure how much of the entire project will be open sourced. I will post when it gets uploaded.
I do think all of the code will be there though – the engine was built by Chris Hecker a.o.. The animation system is cal3d.
Thanks! Found it at: http://cal3d.sourceforge.net/
